Jay Tekulvē (Tee-COLE-Vee) Flower de Jackson-Vann, LMFT (he/him)
Tekulvē Flower de Jackson-Vann is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly twenty years of clinical experience, spanning seven states and a variety of clinical settings. Grounded in systems theory, Tekulvē’s therapeutic approach considers all the relationships and connections that may be contributing to the emergence of clinical concerns. Tekulvē effectively addresses a wide range of issues, ranging from depression and anxiety to gender diversity and religious trauma.
Tekulvē practices Narrative Therapy, an approach that emphasizes the role of language in both creating and maintaining problems. He believes deeply in the transformative power of each individual’s narrative to shape their understanding of the world and to find new meaning in their experiences. As a gifted writer and orator, Tekulvē skillfully combines storytelling with his vast clinical expertise to assist individuals, couples, families, and groups to re-story self-defeating narratives and construct new, empowering narratives of hope and change. This approach has proven particularly effective in his work with LGBTQ+ individuals who come out later in life and those facing challenges in reconciling their sexual orientation or gender identity with their faith.
As a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Tekulvē is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in his practice. He ensures his clinical licensure is maintained by completing at least 40 hours of continuing education every two years, staying informed on the latest best practices in the field. Demonstrating his dedication to the profession, Tekulvē has achieved the qualifications and experience necessary to be recognized as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. In this capacity, he provides clinical supervision to Marriage and Family Therapy interns completing their requisite clinical hours for a graduate degree, as well as to Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists who are working toward full licensure. Additionally, he offers clinical consultation for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists who aspire to become AAMFT Approved Supervisors.
