Frequently Asked Questions
Does One Haven offer a free 15-minute initial consultation?
Yes. At One Haven, we strive to ensure you and your therapist are a good fit. Accordingly, we provide free 15-minute consultations to fit you with the best provider to meet your needs. This allows you to explore your options without commitment and to clarify expectations and goals for therapy.
Can therapists remain unbiased if an individual’s path leads to them identifying as cisgender rather than transgender?
Absolutely. A gender-affirming approach means supporting individuals in exploring and affirming their own gender identity, whatever that may be. This approach is centered on respecting each person’s unique journey and providing a supportive environment where individuals can discover and embrace their true authentic selves, whether they identify as transgender, cisgender, non-binary, or in any other way. The goal is to remain unbiased and prioritize the individual’s well-being and self-determination.
Does One Haven provide any snacks?
Yes. At One Haven, we understand that young people often come to therapy sessions straight from school. While we don’t have a full snack service, we do provide some light snacks and water to ensure they feel comfortable and nourished during their visit.
Do therapists at One Haven work exclusively with individuals on a gender journey?
No. At One Haven, we offer inclusive and affirming support for a diverse range of individuals. While we specialize in gender-affirming health care, we also counsel allies and members across the LGBTQ+ community, as well as anyone facing mental health challenges. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, attention issues, intrusive thoughts, family dynamics, interpersonal skills, disordered eating, or other emotional challenges, we are here to help.
Do therapists at One Haven work with parents of LGBTQ+ youth?
Absolutely! We work with parents of LGBTQ+ youth and are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone involved. As young people transition, it’s important to recognize that the entire family grows and transitions alongside them. Parents play a crucial role in the therapeutic journey, and their involvement is encouraged to support their child’s progress and well-being.
